Wilma Mishoe Named President of Delaware State University
WASHINGTON INFORMER — Delaware State University has formally named Wilma Mishoe as the school’s 11th president.

Delaware State University has formally named Wilma Mishoe as the school’s 11th president.
Mishoe, who had been serving as interim president since January, assumes her new role on July 1, 2019. At that time, she will also become the school’s first female president.
In her Dec. 8 address on the Dover campus, Mishoe noted that she would like to see legislation enacted to change the name of the institution to The Delaware State University.
“It is my vision that Delaware State University becomes a central partner in the growth, development, and life of our entire local, state national and regional community,” Mishoe said. “We have often been referred to as a hidden diamond. Well, hidden or not, diamonds are made to shine. In doing so, I expect that many others will begin to point to us for expertise and leadership, and we must be ready willing and available to offer that assistance.”
Mishoe is the daughter of the school’s seventh president, Luna Mishoe, who was at the helm of then-Delaware State College from 1960 to 1987.
She succeeds Harry Williams, who left to become the president and CEO of the D.C.-based Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
