Check Out the New Racially Diverse Emoji
(USA Today) – The smiley you just texted will soon look a little more like you.
That’s right, texters — after a long wait, a more diverse set of emoji has arrived.
The newest updates to Apple’s iOS and OS X operating systems feature a suite of 300 more symbols that users can choose from in lieu of words. Right now the updates are in “beta” and available only to developers, but, thankfully, images of the new pictures have been released on the Web. MacRumors first reported this news.
The feature causing the biggest stir, of course, is a new option that lets users hold down on some emoji and choose from up to six skin tones. The “skin tone modifier” appears to be a new feature to most of the symbols that look like humans.
