Kanye West: No Regrets About Taylor Swift, Would Rethink Shirt He Wore to Bash George Bush

In a rare and enormously entertaining interview, Kanye West backpedals on his apology for bum-rushing Taylor Swift when she beat out Beyonce at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 and says that clearly he hadn’t fully thought out his rebuke of George Bush during the Hurricane Katrina telethon because, “I was wearing like, a Juicy Couture men’s polo shirt.”
“I am so credible and so influential and so relevant that I will change things,” he tells the New York Times in an interview before the release of his latest album, “Yeezus.”
When asked whether that instinct has led him astray a la Swiftgate, he says, “It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is.”
He claims he doesn’t have any regrets about the Swift incident, and he only apologized at the time because of peer pressure. But when asked if he could take back the actual incident or his subsequent apology, he refused to answer.
