WAUSAU, Wisc. (The Wausau Daily Herald)—A group of downtown Wausau church leaders is planning a Black Lives Matter march in May to shed light on racial bias.
“Racism still exists. It’s alive and well. And it’s taken new shapes,” said the Rev. Laurie Bushbaum, interim minister at the First Universalist Unitarian Church of Wausau.
The Marathon County Diversity Affairs Commission might also plan a series of community conversations about race after the May 3 march. Bushbaum presented the idea for the march to the commission on Monday, during a meeting that included discussions about police relations with the local black community and issues with the prison system.
