Apple Expects iPhone 6 to Smash Sales Records with ’70 to 80 Million’ Units Ordered
(The Inquirer) – Apple reportedly has ordered “70 to 80 million” iPhone 6 units as it expects the handset to be its best-selling yet, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
Despite ordering between 50 and 60 million units of the iPhone 5S andiPhone 5C last year, Apple is expecting much larger demand for its incoming 4.7in and 5.5in iPhone 6 devices – having placed an order for between “70 and 80 million units, the biggest order in the company’s history.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal noted that this order will be made up of both the 4.7in and 5.5in versions, seeming to debunk speculation that the larger iPhone 6 model likely won’t see a release this year.
