Valerie Jarrett Returns to Work After Surgery

(Politico) – Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama, had surgery in Chicago last week for a spinal condition and will return to Washington on Monday, a White House official said.

Jarrett will return on Air Force One with Obama, who spent Sunday night in Chicago.

Her surgery on Oct. 13 was related to cervical spine stenosis — a compression of nerves in the spine, which can cause pain.

The official said: “She is thankful for the great care of her doctors. … Valerie is making progress every day and is already joining meetings by phone. She looks forward to being back at work full time in the near future.
