OKCupid Row: Hurrah for Our Less Than Perfect Matches! Online Dating isn’t a Science
(Telegraph) – Online dating is a bit of a science experiment. Honestly, are there any websites out there that don’t treat their users as semi-consenting lab rats?
The latest to admit to sewing a metaphorical ear onto our backs is OKCupid. The founders of the dating site this week revealed that the some of the ‘matches’ its singletons see have been manipulated, adding “But doesn’t everyone do it?”
Co-founder Christian Rudder wrote a blog post saying: “OKCupid doesn’t really know what it’s doing. Neither does any other website…most ideas are bad. Even good ideas are better.
“Experiments are how you sort all this out.”
