New Google App for iOS Gets Android All Over Your iPhone

(Ars Technica) – Google’s new “Material Design” aesthetic was a big part of the Lollipop update for Android, but even if you’ve got an Android phone or iDevice running another operating system you’ve probably run into it in one or more of the company’s apps.

Today the company announced a new version of the Google app for iOS that takes things even further—it looks a whole lot like Android, from the swipe-able cards used to switch between tabs (see above) to the software navigation buttons across the bottom of the screen.

When you use multiple Google apps on iOS, they form their own sort of ecosystem-within-an-ecosystem. While iOS doesn’t allow you to replace its default apps with third-party alternatives, Google’s apps are all intertwined.
