Kevin Ollie Signs 5-Year Extension with UConn
UConn head basketball coach Kevin Ollie recently signed a new extension following his recent NCAA Championship in April, according to ESPN.
Ollie and his Huskies defeated Kentucky, 60-54, for the championship in the school’s first year of eligibility for the NCAA tournament, stemming from sanctions based on the school’s academic performance. Ollie has signed a new five-year contract worth $2.8 million a year, with incentives that can push it to $3 million per season, according to ESPN.
“My heart is here at UConn,” Ollie told ESPN on Thursday. “I want to stay invested in the student-athletes’ lives on and off the court. I want to be here.”
The new deal more than doubles Ollie’s salary; he was paid $1.25 million last season.
