(USA Today) – The selections for the College Football Playoff continue to evolve each week as every upset creates a ripple effect that changes the landscape. Baylor’s loss to West Virginia opens the door for another SEC team into the four-team playoff with a potential one-loss Big Ten or Big 12 champion hoping for help.

Alabama has the best opportunity to take advantage of the SEC’s position with Mississippi State and Auburn coming to Tuscaloosa next month. While the Bulldogs are No. 1, their schedule also includes a road test at Mississippi on the final weekend of the regular season that could determine the fate of both teams in the Magnolia State.
