Amen! A Christian Rap Album Is No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart
(Mashable) – Well, this is an anomaly.
A Christian rap album, fittingly titled Anomaly, has soared to the top of this week’s album chart. Lecrae’s seventh studio effort claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, a rare feat as only a handful of Christian albums have ever achieved this top ranking.
The 34-year-old rapper sold 88,000 copies of Anomaly in its first week out, Nielsen SoundScan tabulated. Anomaly dethrones last week’s chart-topper — Maroon 5’s V — which bowed out in its second week with 80,000 copies sold.
Billboard notes Anomaly (listen below) is only the fifth album from the Christian Albums chart genre to secure the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
