Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is reportedly set to meet with the NFL to discuss his potential reinstatement. Peterson was supposed to be eligible for reinstatement on April 15, so the league could be expediting the process.

If and when Peterson is reinstated, he will likely start applying more pressure to the Vikings in an attempt to force a trade.

Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reports that Peterson is looking to be dealt to either the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals or Dallas Cowboys. Cole described the Cowboys as a “dream scenario” for Peterson.

Peterson’s agent has made it perfectly clear that the 30-year-old running back does not want to continue his career in Minnesota. The biggest obstacle the Vikings will face is that very few teams will be willing to give up anything of significant value with Peterson carrying a cap hit of nearly $13 million next season.

That said, the Cowboys did just agree to a restructured contract with Tony Romo that freed up a good amount of cap space. There was also an interesting report about Jerry Jones not wanting to go past a certain dollar amount for DeMarco Murray in case the Cowboys were presented with an opportunity to sign a Hall of Fame-caliber player down the road.

Rumors of Peterson, who is from Texas, wanting to play for the Cowboys have existed for a long time. The only thing standing in his way is his team’s asking price.
