Usain Bolt, the world and Olympic record holder, won the gold medal for the 200 meters with a time of 19.32 seconds Thursday. Bolt was just .03 seconds away from breaking his previous Olympic record of 19.30.

Bolt was followed by his Jamaican countrymen Yohan Blake (19.44) and Warren Weir (19.84), who together swept the medals for the event.

Blake beat Bolt in 200 meters in June during the Jamaican Olympic trials and was considered the favorite to upset Bolt, who won gold and set the Olympic record during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

However, Bolt defeated Blake for the second time during these Olympics. Bolt won the gold medal in the 100 meters as well, while Blake won silver.
